Round Island : A Secret Paradise on Hong Kong Island

Hello EVERYONE! This is Melody again, your tour guide to the hidden landscape in Hong Kong. Me, personally usually choose the New Territories or Lantau Island for exploration. Last time we’ve been travelled to Kau Sai Wan, paradise for a weekend get-away from the rumbling city. This time, I am taking you guys to another gorgeous green land. Many of you might reckon most of the beautiful remote islands are located in the two main parts I mentioned above, but in fact, there is one utterly amazing beach situated in Hong Kong Island, exact opposite to Deep Water Bay as well as Repulse Bay. Do you know what is this place? Welcome to the ROUND ISLAND!

Traveling to the Round Island is really convenient. My friend and I reserved our seats through online platform of Splitdyboat. The owner accepts FPS and Credit card for payment which fasten the time of confirmation. It only takes me few seconds to complete the whole process by notifying them in a simple message, including dates and time of the travel and number of passengers. They even provide automatic reply system, so, don’t worry about texting them in mid-night. You can book the trip anytime you want. The reason why I adore this company so much is because their efficiency is exactly the same as their name haha. Speedy response! The experience is only $380 hkd per person while the travel time is only 10 minutes.

Speed ferry departed from Ap Lei Chau Pier, 3-minutes-walk from Lei Tung metro station. Once you arrived there, inform the captain in the Whatsapp group. All you need to do next is, sit down and enjoy the local ride! If you like thrilling experience, taking on speedboat is definitely one of the most underrated thing to do in Hong Kong. My foreign friend once told me that journey almost gave him a heart-attack 😂. He even thought it’s gonna be his last day 😂 Joke aside, it’s actually not that extreme dangerous. Scaring you guys is surely not the purpose of this blog 😂 Exciting is the only adjective I would use to describe and I can guarantee this would be A MEMORY for you guys!

The brightness of sun colored the sandy coast in golden yellow, surrounded by blossoming greenery. Once we arrived on the island, we set up a bit and decided to take a peaceful stroll. The gentle breeze carried my stress and worries away, watching the sailing ships, listening to the birds’ singing, laying down and witnessing the color change in the blue skyline.

Rhythmic sound of waves hitting against the shore coordinates seamlessly as the wind blows through the tropical forest. We are literally enveloped in a paradise. The shore gets rocky as you move towards the edge of the beach.

If you enjoy kayaking, it is highly recommended you can start from Deep Water Bay, then kayaking to here. I personally think the quality of sand here is no doubt one of the tops in Hong Kong, so smooth and soft, glittering under the sparkling shine. Autumn sunshine is included in my love-list for sure, that warmth it’s like a sweet hug from mother nature. Always remind me how blessed I am to be able to relish and embraced by the present. Later, we kept the memorable moments in photographs and footages. Perfect background for photoshoot, especially for outdoor lovers. You can effortlessly took many profile pictures standard pictures here so please, remember to bring your best camera at home :D

Besides, we were so lucky as we got many adorable companions along the journey. 😍😍 Another passenger group brought 4 doggies with them, they are Charlie (Samoyed), Emma (Labrador), Nana (Border Collie) and Bello (Yorkshire Terrier). It was really joyful seeing them running happily at the beach. Charlie is a clever boy that he pays attention to the instructions and follow. It was really fun to play with them. Emma is a gluttonous girl and loves eating in big bite, not a lady at all 😂. Nana is passionate and not afraid of interacting with strangers while Bello is the cutie-pie of the group. Their owners are so friendly and I got the chance to treat the dogs. To be honest, Charlie is my favourite because he is such a gentleman. My friend used to be terrified by dogs as she had trauma before. Charlie just sat there calmly and let everyone pat him. This encouraged my friend to bring out her once-in-a-lifetime bravery and touched him. That moment we cheered and I was very proud of her. Massive thanks to Charlie!

For the suggested activities, since the seawater is very crystal-clear, you can simply prepare snorkeling equipment and free dive. You can choose to buy it by yourself or rent from Splityboat, Splitdyboat Beach Concierge Service with beach tent provided too. They also provide lifejacket for rental, therefore, even though your friends do not know how to swim, but still, he/she would love to embed themselves in aqua world, need not worry about it. Just come and have a blast! Another thing you can do is kayaking. We saw few people kayaking or sailing in front of the shipping lane ahead of us. If you want to try the authentic wild challenge, camping would be a superb venture here as well, as long as you guys prepare enough water, food and supplies. 100% a sweet escape from city!

Time flies extra fast when it is well-spent. The speedboat came back for pick up at 6pm. The sun set on the sea, painted the sky with hues of oranges, yellow and light blue, creating a breathtaking masterpiece. The captain introduced about places nearby. From that, I found my next adventure place :D Feeling rejuvenated and alive, I arrived back home, with the soft lullaby made by the nature sounds inside my head and my heart. Such a delight to have discovered this unique gem today!

Warm reminders for enjoying outdoor
